Ted Hallum

 
 

In 2006, Ted Hallum enlisted as an All-source Intelligence Analyst in the U.S. Army’s 3rd Infantry Division. While in the military, he was deployed for a total of 28 months during two combat tours to Iraq as part of Operations Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and New Dawn (OND).

After separating from the military, Mr. Hallum spent most of the next eight years working as an intelligence professional in the cleared defense contracting space, focusing on: Counterinsurgency targeting, Identity Intelligence, Open-source Intelligence (OSINT), and Cyber All-source Analysis. His time as a contract intelligence analyst included an additional six months deployed to Iraq, 19 months deployed to Afghanistan, and three months deployed to Kuwait – all supporting U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) elements.

In early-2018, Mr. Hallum discovered the field of data science through several Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs). In January 2019, he commenced part-time coursework toward a Master of Science in Business Analytics at the College of William & Mary (Raymond A. Mason School of Business). In November of 2019, Mr. Hallum secured his first role as a full-performance data scientist and subsequently completed his master’s degree in August of 2020.

Today, Mr. Hallum is a Senior Defense Machine Learning Engineer at Octo.
